2025 Winter Skincare for Oily Skin
Oily skin needs some love in the Winter too! However, it can be tricky to not overdo the moisturizer and be left super greasy all day. As a 32 year old with oily and acne prone skin, I’m sharing how I personally have been caring for my skin this winter.
I’m Sara and I’m an artist living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I’m very much a homebody and like to not wear makeup most days to keep my pores from getting clogged. This slow paced lifestyle has been great for my skin! Now let’s get into my winter skincare for oily and acne prone skin.

Morning Skincare Routine
In the morning, I wash my face with the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Cleanser. I love how it feels like its cutting through the grime but not overly stripping.
Next, I have been feeling so luxe using The Ordinary’s Milky Toner! I’ll use more or less depending on if I’m wearing makeup that day.
After toning, I put on my rosacea prescription from my dermatologist: a blend of azelaic acid, ivermectin, and metronidazole. If you don’t want to go to the dermatologist, Naturium makes an azelaic acid serum that I repurchased time and time again before getting my prescription.
If I know I’ll be outside a lot, I’ll make sure to wear SPF like Biore’s UV Aqua Rich SPF 50 Daily Moisturizer.
When I’m going to be wearing makeup but will be mostly indoors, I’ve been loving my E.l.f. Holy Hydration! Gel-Yeah Moisturizer. My makeup lasts almost all day and I don’t get oily until the evening.
Then I finish my face with just a dab of Naturium’s Vitamin Bright Illuminating Eye Cream under my eyes.
I still get body acne in the wintertime, so one product that’s great to keep the acne at bay is Naturium’s Salicylic Acid Body Spray. I just need a little spritz on my chest and back.
Evening Skincare Routine
Since I have oily skin, I like to be careful to not put anything too thick on during the day. But I make up for it in the evening!
My nighttime skincare begins with a double cleanse: first, I use Prequel Skin Pre-Gleanse Oil Based Cleanser to get rid of makeup, then I go in with the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Cleanser and I use the classic Johnson’s Baby Shampoo to get my mascara off.
Then, I put a generous amount of The Ordinary’s Milky Toner. Next is my rosacea prescription from my dermatologist: a blend of azelaic acid, ivermectin, and metronidazole. If you don’t want to go to the dermatologist, Naturium makes an azelaic acid serum that I repurchased time and time again before getting my prescription.
Here’s when I start really start moisturizing: I use Shea Moisture Multi-Tasking Argan Oil as my moisturizer and depending how I feel, I’ll use one out of two Laneige masks.
The Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask is great for redness and is super thick and creamy. If I’ve been outside on a cold windy day, this is perfect!
Every other day I’ll use the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask which is lightweight but still moisturizing.
I finish it all off with the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I love how it isn’t sticky!
So there’s my winter skincare routine for my oily, acne prone skin. I’ve been loving it and have honestly felt more and more comfortable going without make up. I still get acne here and there, but overall my skin feels nourished and no longer dehydrated.
